How much does it cost to join?
Upon completing the required 1-hour On Ramp session, you are welcome to join. See all pricing options and choose the membership that works best for you. Transfer clients do not need to complete the 1-hour On Ramp session as long as a skills transfer letter is provided from a recognized CF Affiliate, otherwise, you must complete a skills assessment workout.
Your prices are much higher than a regular gym! Why?
You get what you pay for at a traditional gym, a room full of machines with no coaching or guidance on proper nutrition. Personal training ranges from $35 – $75 per hour as does a nutritionist. At CrossFit Bartlesville, you get coached on how to warm-up, how to correctly and safely lift weights, perform gymnastics movements and we teach you to run and stretch properly. In addition we offer a kids play area, enough parking for all of our members and we are the only CrossFit Affiliate in Bartlesville.
What is your class schedule?
What does WOD mean?
WOD = Workout of the Day
What type of exercises will I be doing?
First, you will learn the 9 Foundational Movements of CrossFit: Squat, Front Squat, Overhead Squat, Press, Push Press, Push Jerk, Dead Lift, Sumo Dead Lift High Pull, Clean. Next, you will be taught body-weight exercises such as push-ups, lunges, pull-ups and hand-stands as well as exercises that include kettle-bells, rings, rowers, medicine balls, jump ropes, plyo-boxes and dumbbells.
What is a typical class format?
Classes are approximately 1 hour. The first 15 minutes are dedicated to the warm-up, followed by 10 minutes of strength work. Then we stretch and preview the Workout of the Day (WOD). The WOD takes an average of 20 minutes. Finally, we do a few minutes of core specific exercise and mobility stretching.
How often should I do CrossFit?
We recommend a minimum of 3 days a week but once you are adjusted we encourage 3 days in a row followed by 1 day of rest.
How long will it take to get results?
If you change your nutrition and start exercising right away, you will start feeling the results in a few weeks and seeing the results in 60 days.
Why should I do CrossFit?
CrossFit will improve not only your fitness, but your overall health, core strength, mobility, athletic performance and reduction in body fat.
Do I have to be in shape before I start CrossFit?
No. You will learn the necessary basics within the first couple weeks which will allow you to develop the right foundation to gradually ramp up your intensity.
Is Crossfit for athletes only?
CrossFit is for everybody! Functional movements are the focus and are essential to how we move our bodies every day. CrossFit exercises and workouts scaled to match each person’s level of ability and conditioning.
How will CrossFit improve me athletically?
CrossFit is ideal for athletes. Our goal is to improve your athleticism by targeting 10 General Physical Skills: Cardio- Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Speed, Power, Coordination, Accuracy, Agility and Balance. Most traditional training methods only target a few of these skills. CrossFit is known as the “sport of fitness.” Each training session will feel like a competition and will dramatically improve your performance in other sports.
Will I get bulky if I do CrossFit workouts?
Getting muscular is the #1 concern of most women when beginning a new exercise program that includes strength training. That is why women gravitate to cardio machines in the gym and not weights. Women need strength training more than men because they are at higher risk for osteoporosis.
Also, women have significantly less testosterone than men which makes it impossible to develop huge muscles naturally. Women who are body building are taking testosterone injections, eating a diet geared towards building muscle mass, and working out very differently than what we do in CrossFit. Getting bulky won’t happen. CrossFit will help you burn fat and increase lean muscle mass. This results in a lean and “toned” body much like a dancer, and not a bodybuilder.
I can't do CrossFit because I have back/knee/other problems...now what?
Many people are afraid to do any exercise, much less CrossFit, because of back, knee or other issues. The problem with exercise abstinence is that these areas never get strengthened. CrossFit can be used as rehab for injuries. Many people have come to us, unable to squat, lift anything off the ground or press anything overhead but CrossFit teaches you how to move properly and exercise with correct mechanics. This in turn helps you regain normal everyday movements with confidence and subsequently do more than you ever thought you could. We see examples of this every day in our gym!
Is CrossFit safe?
CrossFit is safe when done correctly. We teach you proper mechanics for these functional movements, and continue to review them in the regular group setting. We first teach you proper mechanics, we drill them consistently then we blend in the intensity. Any activity can result in injury. CrossFit is safer than most activities because we incorporate movements your body is designed to do.
